A naked infant is seated upright with one hand placed on his heart on a soft grey-white carpet, and looks at the viewer with a devious and excessively focused and intense blue-green stare. This photograph, which at the moment is viewable on the cover of the September issue of the art magazine Artforum, was taken by Torbjørn Rødland and he is one of the few Norwegians who have the honour of adorning the publication.

Astrup Fearnley Museet is honored to have gotten the unique chance to borrow Damien Hirst’s iconic artwork – the diamond skull ‘For the Love of God’ (2007) which you have the opportunity to see in Oslo until 15th November! Previously, this artwork has been shown at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (2008) and Tate Modern in London (2012). This exclusive loan to Astrup Fearnley Museet constitutes the centerpiece in an exhibition, which also includes the museum’s own significant collection of Damien Hirst’s art.

Welcome to our new Infolounge!

In Building 2, The Collection, we have opened an Infolounge. The museum wanted to establish a room where our visitors can sit down during their visit and familiarize themselves with everything the museum has to offer. The lounge is a collaboration between the museum and Montana by KiiL, who have furnished the room with their noteworthy design products and have created both an inspiring and comfortable reading area.
