Tjuvholmen - Concept and Reality

Astrup Fearnley Museet
Event type
Astrup Fearnley Museet has moved from the established Kvadraturen district to the new, urban outermost district located on the fjord, Tjuvholmen. The museum will be a significant piece to the new district. Completed in 2013, Tjuvholmen will also be home to hotels, businesses, apartments and a engaging sculpture park surrounding the museum. Astrup Fearnley Museet with its signature building, already acts as a cultural attraction in a comprehensively developed and eye-catching neighborhood. To what extent will the museum contribute in characterizing life in Tjuvholmen and how will the district function as a whole for the local and visiting public?

We have invited an amalgamated panel to discuss the plan behind and realization of Tjuvholmen as a district.

The panel:
Gunnar Bøyum – admin. dir. to Tjuvholmen KS
Niels Torp – award-winning architect and CEO of architects Niels Torp AS
Stein Kolstø – head of the Fjordbykontoret with Office for Urban Development.
Tone Huse – Phd candidate in Social Geography and author of «Tøyengata – et nyrikt stykke Norge»

Moderator: Randi Wøien – architect and partner of the LPO Architects

Address: Strandpromenaden 2, 0252 Oslo
