The initiators behind MELK want to showcase the new generation of photographic artists in Norway and Scandinavia and discuss photography as art in an exhibition context in an intricate time for the media.

The lecture will be based on a review of selected exhibitions and projects organized by MILK since 2009 and it will be angled towards a discussion on photography as a medium in the exhibition context.

MELK is an artist-run exhibition in Oslo with an aim to be a meeting place and an exhibition space for Norwegian and Scandinavian camera-based art. The main focus is promoting the new generation of photographic artists in Norway and Scandinavia through exhibitions, discussions and dissemination locally and internationally. MELK is located in Borggata 7 in Oslo and is a combined gallery and project space at 80sqm also featuring a shared artist studio and a bookstore. The exhibition space houses four exhibitions a year and it works as a project space for artists involved outside of exhibition periods. The aim of the project room is to establish ties between artists and audience. It is a place for research, exploration of artistic work and discussion.
