Anselm Kiefer: Book and ruin

What is hidden inside the books of The High Priestess / Zweistromland?

In this lecture, Leonora Onarheim Bergsjø presents the visible and hidden parts of the books by Anselm Kiefer at Astrup Fearnley Museet. Kiefer says that his material is life, and he collects scenes from historical events, myths, mystery and poetry to say something significant about our life conditions. He also uses materials with many cultural references, such as lead. What lives are portrayed in The High Priestess / Zweistromland?

Leonora Onarheim Bergsjø, Ph.D., is a researcher at the University of Oslo and Head of Administration at the national research school Authoritative Texts and Their Reception (ATTR). Her doctoral dissertation is about Anselm Kiefer's works, with particular emphasis on the interpretation of life and existential perspectives. She is co-editor of the book Transcendence and Sensoriness. Perceptions, Revelations, and the Arts (Brill 2015).

The lecture is free and open to the public. Welcome!
