Clocks, 2015
The series Clocks was inspired by the neurological “clock test”, which is part of the health sector’s Mini–Mental State Examination (MMSE) test. The patient is asked to draw twelve numbers in a circle to represent a clock, which is a simple task for healthy people. Here Cranston shows works based on MMSE drawings by people who have reduced cognitive functions or neurological disorders. Clocks displays how a schematic perception of reality encompasses more variables than one would imagine due to the complex nature of the human mind.
