Adriana Lara’s projects often examines concepts relating to artistic production and originality, or various practices of systems and symbols.
She often emphasizes the artwork’s subjective power; how a work of art can be everything and nothing at once, depending on the structures of language, definition and context. The works often explores various degrees of collaboration, which Lara believes is inherent in all artistic creation. The artist stages different situations or interventions in the exhibition space; such as the banana peel installation. Each morning, a museum employee eats a banana and discards the peel somewhere in the exhibition space.
