Klara Lidén

Born 1979, Sweden. Lives and works in Berlin and New York.

Klara Lidén is known for her installations, videos and performances that explore the urban cityscape.

With a background in art and architecture, she often uses architectural and recycled materials to thematise people’s physical, psychological and social boundaries. This can be seen in her videos, which capture the artists’ improvised actions in urban public spaces, such as Paralyzed, in which she dances to a soundtrack of screaming and honking on a subway in Stockholm. Her works can be described as improvised, innovative structures that re-construct what already exists. With her enthusiasm for worn-down urban culture, she brings new life to rejected materials, like with Untitled (Bench), which is made out of recycled materials.
