Klara Lidén

The garbage cans, which are collected from the streets of different cities, are also an important part of Lidén’s artistic career. As they hang on the white museum walls, as we see here, they almost act as sculptural objects. However, in the urban landscape they have a specific function, but as exhibited objects, they can remind us of ongoing urbanization and the development of social habits in cities – instead of littering the streets, litter should be collected in boxes. Furthermore, the garbage cans also give the viewer an insight in how deep Lidén’s devotion is to finding materials, and re-constructing objects that already exist. Nothing has to go to waste.
