Manfred Pernice

Born 1963, Germany. Lives and works in Berlin.

With references to both architecture and furniture, there is something recognizable with Pernice’s sculptures.

The focus is not encouraged by the objects as functional objects, but rather an appreciation for their sculptural characters. Moreover, the sculptures also have several meaning structures as they are combined with photographs, texts, sketches and video. In this exhibition this is evident in works such as O.T. where two drawings are laid down into the tabletop. By using materials such as chipboard, wood, cardboard, tiles, concrete and synthetic enamel, the sculptures constantly reflects Pernice’s interest concerning shape, method and spatial effects.
