Sergej Jensen works with a wide range of materials and formal references, bordering on both abstraction and representation. He is widely known for making textile works that combine materials such as burlap, bed sheets, silk and wool. The textile works represented here can resemble minimalistic paintings, particularly with his use of neutral colors and the seemingly random placement of the materials. The principle of the readymade runs throughout his practice, as is prominent with the pre-fabricated- and recycled materials. Occasionally he cuts out parts from earlier works that he re-uses it in upcoming projects.
